Over the break I didn't have much time to do anything, but I did get out to see two movies. One of which was "I am Legend." Well, I thought the movie was just a shock, horror movie and not what I expected at all. (In fact i was kind of disappointed in Will Smith, but the doggie was great and very cute!) Then I decided I would read the book. Sort of backwards because most of the time we read the book then are disappointed by the movie. Had I followed tradition, I would have been severely disappointed by the movie because it deviated from the book SOOOOO much. But I'm glad I read the 1954 novel by Richard Matheson after seeing the movie. It wasn't the best book ever, and it is about some pretty out there ideas of "the end of the world." However, it addresses more of the psychological effects of thinking you were the last man on earth and how the main character deals with the "reality," everything I thought the movie was missing. Oh, and without trying to spoil it, there isn't a Hollywood happy ending like there was in the movie. It isn't a very long book, and if you would like to read a book that kind of keeps you on your toes, has twists and turns and delves into the life of (maybe a spoiler) vampires, you might enjoy this frivolous book.
