Good bye, Uncle Paul!

I was incredibly saddened to hear of Paul Newman's passing Friday. I only found out this afternoon and I immediately said, "oh, no, not Uncle Paul." While I loved him in everything I have seen him in, thinking he is pretty dang good looking as a young guy, I also enjoyed his food products and the philosophy behind them. (He started it all here in CT, you know!) But I will never forget the day I was skiing with one of the Redford grandkids because the regular instructor was sick or at school or needed a day off and it was my priveledge to take her place and the Redford was telling me about Uncle Paul. I just said, uh huh, yes, that's nice the whole time, but when I returned to my supervisor who asked how it went, I said, I know I'm new here, but I didn't think there was a Paul in the Redford clan. She said, oh no there isn't, "Uncle Paul is Paul Newman!" So, while I never got the opportunity to meet the man, a very close group of people always spoke of him in the highest regard and he and his wife sounded like wonderful people. I will morn the loss as an old movie fan and as a fan of good people! Good bye, Uncle Paul! May Newman's Own live on as your movies will, as part of your legacy!
